Death Announcement

Otto Van Maerssen, a chemical engineer for 40 years, died on May 21, 2019.

The native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, lived in Dallas before moving to Walnut Creek 38 years ago.  The World War II British Army veteran, was a graduate of the University of Missouri -Rolla.  He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, and enjoyed travel, photography, and sharing time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters Maria Charney of Grand Prairie, Texas, Patricia Hawkins of Dallas, Texas, and Veronica Logan of Walnut Creek; his sons Otto H. Van Maerssen, and Robert Van Maerssen of Montclair, NJ; and fourteen grandchildren.  His wife of 42 years, Hortensia, died in 1997.

There will be a funeral mass on June 8th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walnut Creek, with burial at Oakmont Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.  Click on Learn More for details.
